Before the first meal

Thaw the pack in the fridge overnight. Tip it into a heatproof bowl and steam it for 15 to 20 minutes, until cooked through. Let it cool until just warm, then serve. Don't serve it raw.

Once thawed, keep it in the fridge and use it within 3 days. Steamed leftovers keep in the fridge 2 days at most.

Wash the bowl, your hands and the counter after each meal, like with any raw meat.

Your first 100g pack, meal by meal

It's a taste, not a full switch. Mix a little into your dog's usual food and let them get used to it.

Meal 1: a teaspoon mixed into the usual food. Just a taste.

Meals 2 and 3: about a quarter of the pack each, mixed in well.

Meals 4 and 5: the rest, still mixed in. Same total amount of food as usual; only the mix changes.

Fussy eaters

Go slower. A teaspoon next to the usual food, then a little more each meal. The pack may last more meals, and that's fine. If your dog won't touch it, go back a step. If they won't eat at all, feed the usual food and message us.

The 7-day switch

Days 1 to 2: a quarter NomNomPaws, three quarters the usual food.

Days 3 to 4: half and half.

Days 5 to 6: three quarters NomNomPaws, a quarter the usual food.

Day 7: all NomNomPaws. Mix the two together in one bowl the whole week. Same total amount as before; only the mix changes.

A fussy eater can take 10 to 14 days instead: start with a teaspoon mixed in and add a little more each day.

What's normal in week one

Softer poo, drinking a bit more, extra excitement at mealtimes. All fine.

When to pause

Vomiting or diarrhoea for more than two days, blood in the poo, or no appetite for a day. Go back to the previous step, and if it continues, check with your vet.

Leftovers

Fresh food shouldn't sit out. Pick up anything left after 30 minutes and bin it.
